Milk for Breakfast

I dragged a friend out of bed on Sunday morning and we went to Milkd in Maylands for breakfast this week.

The place is new, fresh, cool and pleasantly busy. We decided to eat in (as opposed to 75% of the trade who pass by for a quick cappo to go). There's heaps of concert posters on the wall (a sure sign they want to appear cool from day 1). The branding and fit out are all restrained and appropriate.

I had the Toasted Breads - Vegie Option, while my partner had brushetta with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. The Vegie toast came with haloumi with zuchini and capsicum. Superb.

My friends meal was great - a good sized serving, the smoked salmon was so good that I had to try a piece. Coffee was just as good (8 out of 10).

The barista was cheery, and very very busy. The rest of the staff did their job well, but seemed a bit stressed. Just after we had been served our meal my partner stepped up from the table and tipped her meal on the floor. Within seconds the staff were onto the job of cleaning up the mess, and had arranged another replacement serving for us. (Dodgy table, with a missing screw down foot partly to blame...). But we both commented that it was nicely done of them to arrange a new serving.

We were impressed. All in all, I'd rate the breakfast 9 out of 10.
